Ytterbium Metal Powder Yb CAS 7440-64-4 For Alloy Target
Name: Ytterbium metal powder, Ytterbium powder Molecular formula: Yb
CAS: 7440-64-4 Molecular weight: 173.04
Description: Ytterbium is a kind of rare earth with variable valence. In addition to being trivalent, ytterbium can also be bivalent. Because of this variable valence, it is not suitable to prepare ytterbium by electrolysis, but by reduction distillation. Usually, lanthanum is used as reducing agent, and the difference between ytterbium high vapor pressure and lanthanum low vapor pressure is used for reducing distillation. Ytterbium metal can be prepared by reduction of anhydrous ytterbium fluoride with calcium metal. Ytterbium metal is introduced into hydrogen to absorb hydrogen to obtain brittle ytterbium hydride solid. Then, ytterbium metal powder can be obtained by dehydrogenation at vacuummed and high temperature.
