Description: Germanium dioxide is a white powder, hexagonal, tetragonal or amorphous solid, insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid, and soluble in alkali solution to form germanate. Germanium dioxide is the dioxide of germanium with the same electronic formula as carbon dioxide. There are two kinds of hexagonal crystal system (stable at low temperature) slightly soluble in water and orthorhombic crystal system insoluble in water, and the transition temperature is 1033℃. It is prepared by hydrolysis of germanium tetrachloride. The process is to add 6.5 times of the volume of distilled water into germanium tetrachloride, stir it and place it for a day and night to generate germanium dioxide precipitation, wash it with cold water until the washing solution does not contain Cl-. The product of germanium dioxide was obtained by drying at 200℃.

Uses: Germanium dioxide is used as raw material for the preparation of germanium and other germanium compounds, as well as catalyst, spectrum analysis and semiconductor materials for the preparation of polyethylene terephthalate resin. It can be used as catalyst for conversion, dehydrogenation, adjustment of gasoline fraction, production of color film and polyester fiber. Moreover, germanium dioxide is also a catalyst for polymerization. The glass containing germanium dioxide has high refractive index and dispersion performance, and can be used as a wide-angle camera and microscope lens.
