Description: Cerium ammonium nitrate is orange red monoclinic fine crystal. Soluble in water and ethanol, almost insoluble in concentrated nitric acid. Deliquesce easily in the air. The aqueous solution of ceric ammonium nitrate is yellow, which can be used to detect the presence of alcohol. When the reaction is positive, the solution turns orange. The cerium oxide and dilute nitric acid are heated and evaporated into syrup shape, then added with ammonium nitrate crystal, and evaporated to generate paste crystal again, cooled and crystallized, then filtered by crystallization suction, washed with dilute nitric acid, filtered solid is dissolved in dilute nitric acid again, filtered while hot, evaporated the filtrate to paste shape, cooled and crystallized, and filtered, then the finished product cerium ammonium nitrate is obtained.
