Description: Erbium Chloride is soluble in water and acid, slightly soluble in ethanol. When the aqueous solution is heated, it gradually becomes opaque and becomes a mixture of Erbium Chloride and erbium oxychloride after dehydration. Anhydrous Erbium Chloride can be obtained by heating in the hydrogen chloride gas stream. The latter is light red or light purple lamellar crystal with slightly hygroscopicity. A proper amount of erbium oxide is dissolved in an excess of 2mol / L HCl, further concentrated after a few hours of heating reaction, and the precipitated crystal is erbium chloride hydrate after a few weeks in a desiccator filled with anhydrous calcium sulfate.
