Description: Europium chloride is a yellow solid, which will decompose to europium chloride (II) (EuCl2) when it is lower than or equal to the melting point. It has strong water absorption. When the anhydrous substance is exposed to the humid air, it will absorb water quickly and change into white crystal hexahydrate (EuCl3 6H2O). The hydrate is dried in a P2O5 dryer, and then dehydrated by heating for a long time in a dry HCl air stream to obtain the anhydrous Europium chloride.
