Description: Lanthanum can be made into various forms: Lanthanum foil, Lanthanum block, Lanthanum rod and Lanthanum powder. The content of lanthanum in the earth's crust is 0.00183%, which is next to cerium in rare earth elements. Lanthanum metal is active in chemical properties. It quickly loses metallic luster when exposed to air and forms a blue oxide film. However, it can not protect metal, and then further oxidizes to form white oxide powder. Lanthanum metal can react slowly with cold water, it is soluble in acid and can react with many kinds of nonmetals. Heating can burn to produce oxides and nitrides. Hydride is formed by heating in hydrogen, which reacts strongly in hot water and emits hydrogen. Therefore, Lanthanum is usually stored in mineral oil or rare gas.
