Description: Gallium oxide, is the most stable oxide of gallium. White triangular crystalline particles. Insoluble in water. Slightly soluble in hot acid or alkali solution. There are five isomers of Ga2O3: α, β, γ, δ, ε. The most stable one is β-isomer. When heated to over 1000℃ or heated to over 300℃ in hydrothermal condition (i.e. wet process), all other isomers are converted to β-isomer. All kinds of pure isomers can be prepared by different methods. Gallium oxide can be dissolved in dilute nitric acid, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. The burnt Ga2O3 is insoluble in these acids, even in concentrated nitric acid, and also in the aqueous solution of strong alkali. It can only be dissolved by melting NaOH, KOH or KHSO4 together with K2S2O7. Gallium chloride is formed by melting with twice of NH4Cl at 250℃.
