Description: After the reaction of terbium oxide with hydrochloric acid, the aqueous solution was evaporated, concentrated and cooled to form hexahydrate. In order to avoid the hydrolysis in the process of heating dehydration, the crystallization water can be removed by vacuum heating dehydration in the presence of ammonium chloride to give terbium chloride. The purpose of adding ammonium chloride is to chlorinate tbocl produced during dehydration with ammonium chloride:
